چکیده

In this paper, the residual stress of thermal spray coatings in gas turbine component by curvature method has been studied. The samples and shaft were coated by hard WC-12Co cermets using high velocity oxy fuel (HVOF) after preparation in same conditions. The curvature of coated samples was measured by using of coordinate measurement machine (CMM). The metallurgical and Tribological studies has been made on the coated shaft using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) Keywords—Thermal spray, Residual stress, Wear mechanism, HVOF, Gas compressor shafts

Experimental and Numerical Study of Residual Stress in the WC-12Co HVOF Sprayed Coatings

Thermally sprayed coatings are intrinsically associated with residual stresses in the deposits. These stresses are varied in nature and magnitude, and have a pronounced effect on the mechanical behavior of the system. In the current study, WC-12Co coatings were deposited using HVOF thermal spraying. The sin2ψ method was used to evaluate the through thickness residual stress by means ...

The application of photoluminescence piezospectroscopy for residual stresses measurement in thermally sprayed TBCs

Article history: Received 18 March 2016 Revised 16 July 2016 Accepted in revised form 28 July 2016 Available online xxxx Photoluminescence piezospectroscopy (PLPS) was used as a non-destructive technique for the measurement of residual stresses within the thermally grown oxide (TGO) layer beneath plasma-spray thermal barrier coatings (TBC). The technique has proved to be very effective for such...

Redesign and Shock Analysis of HALIFAX Class Frigate Gas Turbine Uptake Structure

The gas turbine exhaust uptakes in the HALIFAX class frigates of the Canadian Navy have experienced thermally-induced fatigue cracking since soon after the commissioning of these ships. The uptake structure is heavily stiffened in order to meet shock resistance requirements. Unfortunately, the result has been that thermal expansion of the uptake shell is constrained, thus every flash-up and shu...

Experimental Study of the Residual Stresses in Girth Weld of Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline

In order to achieve integrated condition in the girth welding of high pressure natural gas transmission pipelines, the weld zones and its surrounding area should have good mechanical properties. Residual stresses are an important defect especially in the girth welding of the pipeline. In this study, two API X70 steel pipes (with spiral seam weld) of 56 inches outside diameter and 0.780 inch wal...
